Cricbay in Year 2012 - players and their amazing performances - Part 1

Did you know that Satya Akella wins a Toss 86% of the times ? Hattrickers end up batting first 88% of the times ? or that Navaneeth and his challengers rarely lose (ok, every one knows that ;-) ).. How about Synergy CC will bat second 80% of times especially if Rahul is captaining ? :-) Did you know that NO ONE played all the games this year? I have always wondered who did well on a yearly basis. Now that I have some time, and there are no more games scheduled for the year, I did some copy pasting on excel and some number crunching and got this. It is not complete yet and this is the Part 1 that mostly covers batting and some team statistics.

We always have awards for best batting, bowling etc per season and hence we know who did well. I have always wondered who did well on a yearly basis.  Now that I have some time, and there are no more games scheduled for the year, I did some copy pasting on excel and some number crunching and got this. This is NOT official and is purely my personal analysis. Please don’t be offended if your name doesn’t show up  since it wasn’t intentional and I am sure I may have made mistakes. The analysis is not complete and will write more in the coming days.

These teams played the most number of games this year. RCPC has some incredible numbers this year (more of that latter). 27 teams played 28 games and another 25 played 27 games.

And these guys played the most number of games this year. Very dedicated bunch indeed. Looking forward to seeing more people in this list J. Interestingly, none of the top 5 is from the teams that played the most games. As expected Shankar Narayana is in the list..He according to me is one of the most consistent Cricbay players and he has played 171 Cricbay games as of now (by far the most games played in Cricbay by an individual)

Captains:

Here are the most successful captains in terms of games won.. (Not necessarily trophiesJ). There is Zero surprise on who tops that list. Challengers have played 67 games in last 3 years and have lost just 7. Dazzlers had an amazing run that went all the way to a Platinum Cup.

Batsman

Top run getters of 2012. Abhinav is one of the reasons why Top Guns have done very well this year.. (They have other reasons as well.. but this one a very crucial one). You see the usual suspects like Dilip, Rohit, Gane, and Parshu KUlkarni as well. Srikkanth of RCPC is surely someone to watch in the future.. I have seen him bat and when he gets going, it’s brilliant to watch. Nisarg has done wonderfully well this year as well and he just needs some support from his boys to haul Absolute XI back to their former glory. Kashyap is a brilliant all-rounder for Daakus and has done a Kapil dev for Daaku’s Indians pretty well this year and they seem to do well every time Kashyap does well.

Gane is few runs away from getting to 2000. I was hoping he will do it by the year end. You have been amazing as ever buddy and looking forward to seeing you score many many runs. Rahul has  done enough to make Legends a good team and they look solid every time he scores runs.

Since, you can’t go with just the total number of runs , I checked the averages as well.. Here are the guys who averaged over 20 runs a game this year. AS expected many of them belong to both the lists (runs and averages) showing how important they have been to their team’s fortunes. Avi has been nothing but phenomenal for Raiders. You see Bijoy, Arvind Sridhar as expected.

Another measure of a very good batsman in Cricbay would be see how many times they carry on with their good starts and get more runs consistently.  How many 25+ scores for example… You can see Thimmiah, Vinithkumar pretty much carry their teams’ hopes with them.. The guys score with amazing consistency.  Nisarg Shah has clearly had an outstanding year as a batsman. Avi has been great and whoever has him their fantasy team are reaping the rewards J

And of course, you have one more reason  to call Arvind Sridhar the best Cricbay Batsman by a mile J We will surely miss his fireworks next year.

Strike Rate

This piece statistical information has always been tricky since many teams either don’t enter the number of balls entered or don’t do a good job. I decided to look at whatever is available anyways. And most of Cricbay already know who will top this list by a mile even if the data is not available  J  I limited the list to batsmen who have scored at least 149 runs .

You can see clearly that Khurram can pretty much destroy any bowling attack in Bay area more often than not. Most of his games are playoff games should really really amaze you. Sunny Singh can do it too though a bit less consistently.  You can see Abhinav Bobba’s 491 runs were scored at more than run a ball showing how important he has been for Top Guns.

Big Hitters aka Monsters

Again, most of us already know who hits a big one more often than that. What amazes me is their able to do that game after game. The list included batsmen who have at least hit 10 sixes this year and who have done that at least once in two games.

While, as a Bowler, you will just have to hope when you bowl to Khurram.. Sunny singh, Arvind Sridhar and Abhinav Bobba will hit at least one six a game.

Another scary thing about these batsmen is that you don’t want to be the bowler/bowling team if they haven’t hit a six or two in previous games. Because, they will hit a bunch very very soon and you will be paying for it J

Let’s look at slightly gentler set of batting.. who hit the most 4s J My list is limited to people who have hit at least 15 4s and averaged at least one 4 a game. Most of the usual suspects are all there.  It is very clear that Abhinandan Das is surely someone you will always have to watch out as a bowler . Vinothkumar is another new batsman who believes in not running much and yet scoring a bunch of runs J

Rohit Chakravarthy (Challengers) became the first batsman to hit 100 4s in Cricbay. He currently has 117. Prashant Salgaocar (Mavericks) is second with 99 hits to the boundary

Abhinav Bobba in my opinion has been the shining star of Cricbay this year. He has all the numbers going in his favor and not many have done as good as he has, considering the number of games he has played., As I analyze more (bowling, fielding, catching etc), things will get clearer on who have the some of the most valuable players of Cricbay in 2012.
