Won by Aryans and asked Champions to Bat First
Aryans won a last ball thriller by one wicket
Raghu Kn

Very close and exciting game which came down to last wicket, last ball, last run. Both team bowled superbly and played in a very good spirits. Special thanks to Omkar and Vivek for walking about when they had knicked the ball.

There were two possible contenders for PoM - Raghu and Shantanu as they both bowled superbly. We decided to give PoM to Ragh for his all around performance. Bowling figures like 4-2-7-2 doesn't usually happen and playing 33 balls wasn't easy on Northgate ground. It was a par scoring game, and staying at the wicket was more important and just waiting for the odd ball to score runs from as Champions bowled superb line and length and wouldn't give anything at all to the batsman.

Congratulations Raghu and Aryans on winning the game. Both team, thank you for playing the game in good spriti which made our life much easier as umpires. We have all seen what can go wrong but this game truly was a treat to umpire. Thank you guys once again and good luck for the season.

AS

Excellent game!

@Sheshu - There has to be a special mention for Champions captain Omkar walking after the umprire not given him out and that set the example for the team with Vinay doing the same inspite of knowing very well that we did not have a big enough score to win the game easily.  That's the reason why I love this team and enjoy playing cricket even today!

Omkar and Vivek - Kudos and you both are true citizens of CricBay!

PS: In today's world, umpiring is not an easy job to pick on every snick and we often see even a square leg fielder showing frustration over an umpire's wide call.  These type of decisions by the batsmen will only enhance the spirit of the game, ease out the tension on a weekend, make playing or umpiring a game that much more enjoyable and fun!

Thanks

Ashok

Just watched the video..!

Interesting (and brave) shot selection from Sheshu to go aerial when you need 1 run of the last ball, with just one wicket in hand...! Well done :)

Vishwa, we needed a DRR boost :-) .. on a serious note, it was a PP over and there was only one fielder outside the circle and he was fairly wide of long on.. The kid bowled a pretty good line from round the wicket after starting with wides over the wicket (pretty impressive for someone debuting with a PP over if I remember correctly) and i knew it was just a matter of waiting a big one as straight as possible and hoping for the best with just one to get.. at my level, we don;t have much shot selection or plan.. it's mostly hope

Ashok, very good point.. it was indeed wonderful of both the players and like I mentioned in IEmail, people like Om and Vivek is why CricBay is the league it is. People appeal for everythiung let alone walking when they know they are out.  We have a quite a few in our team who believe they should walk when they are out and we have done that in tight games (a platinum quarters last year for example) and I think there are plenty of others who do too.. It makes life of an umpire that much easier and actually makes the whole cricket playing experience that much better and positive.

This game was played in great spirits despite being a tight rope walk at end for everyone and I remember clearly that you walked upto me before the last over and said "good luck sheshu and aryans".. that is sposrtman spirit of the highest kind .. thank you.. we needed all the luck given how well Krish (what does he eat!!) and Lahurikar brothers were bowling
