Trophies and Awards

  • Platinum Trophy and Runner Up Trophy
  • Gold Winner and Runner up Trophy
  • Silver Winner and Runner Up Trophy
  • Silver Winner and Runner Up Trophy
  • Only 1 MVP announce across 4 divisions
  • PoM award for Semi finals and Finals for each division.
  • Bowler with most number of Maiden overs bowled
  • Bowler with best economy
  • All awards require player to play at least 75% of the games to be eligible. Bowlers will be required to bowl a minimum number of overs for the new awards. Details to be posted asap.
  • Additional Performance based awards are being discussed.
  • We will not create a separate stat page for T10 games. For now, it will be part of your T20 CricBay Career. We may change it if at all T10 becomes a regular fixture as one of the tournaments.

T10 Format Details

  • As mentioned above this tournament will have 10 overs format and each game should be finished in1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • There will be 4 game time slots: 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM.
  • Due to the format, and umpiring the same weekend for qualifier and pre-quarter round, we will not allow game swaps since too many teams will be interconnected logistically and it will be impossible to change schedule. However, umpiring swaps might be possible if you find a swap
  • Each bowler will be allowed a maximum of 2 overs.
  • PowerPlays
    • Since we have potentially 11 batters to bat 10 overs, we expect batting to be bit more carefree as it is.
    • All games will have 1 power play over and it will be a mandatory PP over. It will be the 5th over of the innings.

Super Over

In case of a Tied game, teams should play a super over game. Details are on the handbook (Page 46). For this tournament, here are the specific restrictions

  • Umpires MUST ensure a Super over game takes NO MORE than 10 minutes. NO Exceptions
  • Super Over game is allowed If and ONLY if the T10 game was completed on time within allocated time. If the game lasted longer than assigned time slot (unless due to a ground issue approved by CoLA.. Sigman field gates were opened late, ground s changed in the last minute for example) This is to ensure the teams from the next game do not lose out much on their practice time/ground prep etc.
  • Deadline for game completion are 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. If game (regular T10 game) went beyond this time, the game is declared a tie by the umpires and game is over. Unless there were exceptions that were approved by CoLA mentioned above
  • If there was a tie in the first super over, the game is declared a tie.

Ground Charges

For T10 format, each game will be charged half of T20 ground fee and each team will see automated deduction upon completion of the game.

Promotion and Relegation

There will not be any promotions or relegations based on the results of the Champions Trophy.

Forfeits and Umpire No show Rules

To discourage forfeits and Umpiring no-show during the tournaments the following rules are applicable:

  • The team that forfeits is liable for the entire ground payment.
  • -1 DRR will be applied while calculating the final ranking after the end of the round or the tournament.
  • -0.5 DRR to carry forward to the next tournament.
  • If a team forfeits more than once or if there are more than one umpire no-shows in a tournament, additional penalties might apply as decided by CoRA. The team will also be not guaranteed a spot in the league in the following season.

Abandoned Games

  • A game is considered Abandoned only when it is deemed impractical to complete the game, in spite of the best efforts by all involved to complete the game, due to unforeseen circumstances or weather. A game is not considered Abandoned until the umpires have confirmed the same with CoLA. Please refer to CricBay Handbook for further clarification.
  • For all interrupted games,  Duckworth-Lewis Method will be used to get the result for the game. DLS kicks in after 5 overs of team batting second.  DLS will also kick in if the second innings is not completed on time and/or the teams for the next game arrive to set up the field.
  • For those games where game start is delayed due to issues beyond the control of teams/umpires/CoLA (example: Sigman field or central park field gates were not opened on time, some fields where freeloaders come early morning and make teams wait etc), You can play complete 10 over game as long as you inform CoLA BEFORE the game start time.
  • For ABANDONED weekends (due to rains), CoLa may designate some weekends, on an ad-hoc basis, as buffer weekends. CoLA reserves the right to change the dates, the grounds, the umpiring assignments and the overall timeline of the tournament. CoLa’s decisions are binding on the playing and the umpiring teams. CoLA will make every effort to be be very fair and reasonable to all teams while making these adjustments.
  • If for some reason, CoLa just cannot reschedule a game due to a variety of considerations, (including the unreasonable extension of tournament end date) both teams get 2 points each and 0 DRR
  • Teams may choose to play their "abandoned" games, but it has to be mutually agreed upon by both playing teams and on a CricBay provided ground. A CoLA approval and ground allocation should be sought by raising a ticket of such a reschedule. While CoLA will request the umpiring teams to provide umpires for the game, it is not mandatory for the umpiring teams to umpire on an off weekend unless the game was scheduled by CoLA as part of a reschedule. In such instances where a neutral umpire is not available the two playing teams need to proceed with the game without neutral umpires.

Teams that opted out of Champions Trophy

  • You will start the regular season in the division as per your fall open ranking(there will be no demotion).
  • There will not be any reimbursement of 2018 Registration fees.
  • Teams will pay for ground costs. Grounds have already been booked and hence we will have to recoup that money. Over a number of weekends, the cost adds up and exact amount every team will have to pay to offset the cost will be known at a later stage. (expect at least a couple of hundred dollars)
  • As you are well aware, we are always looking to restrict the number of teams in CricBay.. If we (CricBay volunteers) decide on a "good number", some of the teams may not get to come back in next tournament. If a couple of that decide to play CT but disband after the tournament, and we reach the number of teams that like (generally, 112 is easier for example, from the perspective logistics, scheduling efforts etc), the team that chose to sit out might have to sit out until a slot opens for further tournaments. We do promise that we will give higher priority to the current teams before letting new teams (we already have at least two new teams waiting).

Comments (#2)

Just to confirm after 8 matches + qualifier round..

Shouldn't it be 16th and 17th from Gold and 16th from silver who will qualify after the qualifiers for pre-quarterfinals...Or, am I missing something?

==

As side comment I belive if we are having 21 platinum teams in pre-quarterfinals I would rather have them in platinum and quarter pre quarters and push lowest gold down and so on that way silver and bronze championship matches are more interesting...

Anerughan,

A team ranked 17th in platinum is placed 1st in the Gold Pre-quarter and 15 winners of Gold Qualifier are placed 2-16, so next team in Gold will be at 17th rank. It is same as you have mentioned, just that the rank is shifted by 1 due to the platinum team. Same is for Silver division.
